St. Agnes Academy
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month 2025 at St. Agnes Academy. From LAYA’s Mexican Independence Day event to faith, culture, and student-led traditions.
Hispanic Heritage Month 2025, observed from September 15 to October 15, is a treasured time on our campus to honor the culture, history, and contributions of Hispanic Americans.
At St. Agnes Academy, we proudly join this celebration by weaving faith, academics, and community into a month of meaningful events that highlight the richness of Hispanic culture and the achievements of Hispanic communities.
Hispanic Heritage Month 2025: Starting with a Celebration
This year, our Hispanic Heritage Month festivities begin with a highlight event on September 16.
One of
our clubs on campus,
Latin American Youth Association (LAYA), will host a
Mexican Independence Day celebration on campus, complete with traditional food, vibrant music, and joyful community building. This gathering sets the tone for the month ahead, reminding us that faith and culture flourish best when shared together.
Bringing Hispanic Culture into the Classroom
Throughout the month, St. Agnes teachers integrate lessons highlighting the contributions of Hispanic leaders and innovators.
English classes explore works by contemporary Hispanic authors such as Isabel Allende and Rudolfo Anaya, while history courses highlight influential figures from Latin American countries like Dolores Huerta and José Martí.
Science and art classes spotlight trailblazing figures such as Dr. Mario Molina, a Nobel Prize-winning chemist, and artists such as Beatriz Milhazes. The idea is to celebrate Hispanic contributions across multiple disciplines.
These lessons ensure students see the importance of Hispanic heritage as part of the larger story of learning and excellence.
Food, Music, and Community Spirit
Hispanic culture is alive with color, rhythm, and flavor, and our campus reflects that energy throughout the month. Events often feature traditional dishes, music, and sometimes even dance performances. From salsa and merengue to Latin jazz, these moments allow students to experience firsthand the vibrancy of cultures that shape so much of our community.
Student Leadership and Shared Stories
Our students play a central role in making the celebration meaningful. From classroom presentations to student-led events, they share personal stories, research projects, poetry, and performances. This is a chance for our community to hear directly from young women about their heritage and how the contributions of Hispanic Americans continue to inspire them today.
A Community of Many Voices
Hispanic Heritage Month is not just about honoring one group – it’s about celebrating the way diverse cultures strengthen our shared mission.
St. Agnes students, faculty, and families come together to recognize the traditions of countries across Central and South America, as well as the lasting impact of Hispanic Americans across the United States.
Whether through cultural attire, festive events, or daily reflections, our community embraces the values of unity, respect, and faith.
Living the Mission at St. Agnes Academy
By honoring the achievements of Hispanic communities and recognizing the beauty of Hispanic culture, St. Agnes Academy affirms its commitment to diversity and inclusion during Hispanic Heritage Month 2025.
From the vibrant LAYA Mexican Independence Day celebration to classroom projects and schoolwide festivities, we are reminded that faith, excellence, and joy are strengthened when we celebrate together.
