Veritas Discovery Program: Middle School Summer Enrichment

The St. Agnes Academy Veritas Discovery Program offers a vibrant and dynamic environment where young minds can explore, create, and thrive. Designed to supplement traditional curriculum, these camps provide an array of enriching activities spanning various disciplines such as STEM, arts, humanities, and physical education. Students will be encouraged to think critically, collaborate with peers, and hone their problem-solving skills. Beyond academics, these courses foster personal growth and self-confidence. Whether delving into the mysteries of science, unleashing creativity through artistic expression, or discovering new passions, the St. Agnes Academy Veritas discovery Program ignites curiosity and inspires lifelong learning. Participants will leave with cherished memories, lasting friendships, and a newfound enthusiasm for exploring the world around them.

This program is co-ed and is open to rising 4th through 8th grade students (currently finishing 3rd to 7thgrade). *Please register your child according to the designations following each course title – either 4th-6th, 4th-8th, or 6th-8th, as the teachers have carefully crafted curriculum to appeal to those populations.

The program will run two weeks: June 1-4, 2026 and June 8-11, 2026 and there will be two sessions each week. The program is choose your own adventure style and students may sign up for only one course or up to four courses.

Discover how animals survive in their extreme homes, then put their skills to the test in an epic Animal Faceoff! You'll move like the creatures you study, craft your own habitats and masks, and decide who's the ultimate survivor. Science, art, and adventure collide in this hands-on zoology expedition.
  • Week 1, Session 1: Camp Kindness (6th-8th graders)

    Ready to turn your summer into a season of impact, creativity, and connection? Camp Kindness Crew invites kids to roll up their sleeves and dive into fun, hands-on volunteer projects that make a real difference. From writing heartfelt gratitude letters for veterans and first responders to assembling lunches for Kids’ Meals Houston, every activity helps spread compassion in the community. Make new friends, learn new skills, and discover the joy and fun of giving back!

    Get ready to roll up your sleeves and let the flour fly! In this hands-on baking adventure, you’ll mix, knead, and bake your way through a week of delicious challenges inspired by The Great British Bake-Off. Each day brings a new recipe and a fun competition twist as you learn the secrets of homemade breads and their tasty pairings.
     
    You’ll master fluffy biscuits with sweet jam, fresh tortillas with flavorful fillings, soft pita bread with yummy dips, and even homemade pizza crusts topped to perfection! No experience needed — just a love of good food and a willingness to get a little messy in the kitchen. By the end of the week, you’ll be a St. Agnes star baker, ready to rise to any baking challenge!
  • Week 1, Session 1: Mindful Makers: Crafts for a Brighter Summer (6th-8th graders)

    Slow down, get creative, and enjoy the sunshine! In this relaxing and uplifting class, students will make a variety of summer crafts that help us to slow down after a busy school year and inspire positivity and peace. Along the way, we’ll explore mindful moments—like pausing to notice colors, textures, and simple joys—while sharing ideas for creative projects that reflect each student’s unique spirit. It’s the perfect blend of art, reflection, and summertime fun. Come create, connect, and let your positivity shine!
  • Week 1, Session 1: Tabletop Tacticians (4th-8th graders)

    Think board games begin and end with Monopoly and Sorry!? Think again! There’s a whole universe of modern board games waiting to be discovered - full of epic stories, daring teamwork, clever strategy, and just the right amount of chaos. In this week-long adventure, you’ll dive into games where you build bird habitats in Wingspan, fight off hordes of zombies in Zombicide, and explore everything from cooperative quests to competitive strategy challenges. You’ll learn how different types of games work and figure out which styles you love most. Get ready to team up, outsmart your friends (nicely!), and travel to new worlds without ever leaving the table. If you like thinking, laughing, and a little friendly competition, this is your new favorite class.

  • Week 1, Session 2: A Sirius Course for Muggles (4th-6th graders)

    Step into the magical world of Harry Potter with our immersive enrichment class! Upon receiving their Hogwarts letters of acceptance, students will embark on a journey of discovery and camaraderie. Sorted into their respective houses through Pottermore, they will delve into the rich history and notable members of their chosen house while crafting personalized nametags with house-related themes. Engaging discussions on book themes will lead to the creation of a "Harry Potter, a History" book chronicling the series' main events, while charms class will see students crafting their own wands and mastering various spells. Defense Against Dark Arts classes will culminate in thrilling duels, adding an element of excitement to the curriculum. Participants will also learn about Hogwarts itself, constructing a detailed model of the iconic school and embarking on a horcrux hunt within its halls. Classes on potion-making and divination, including reading tea leaves, will further deepen students' understanding of magical practices. The experience will culminate in a Triwizard Tournament, Harry Potter trivia, and Quidditch matches set up in the back pavilion, complete with a selection of Harry Potter-themed candies. Finally, students will capture memories with a Hogwarts Class of 2026 picture commemorating their unforgettable journey into the wizarding world.
  • Week 1, Session 2: Clay and Play – Stop-Motion Storytelling (6th-8th graders)

    Lights, camera, clay! In this exciting 4-session workshop, students will discover the magical world of claymation and bring their wildest stories to life, one frame at a time. Through hands-on creation, collaborative storytelling, and digital filmmaking techniques, students will learn the art of stop-motion animation while developing skills in visual storytelling, patience, problem-solving, and creative expression. By the end of the course, each student will have created their own short claymation film to share with friends and family!
  • Week 1, Session 2: Elementary Leadership 101 (4th-6th graders)

    Back by very popular demand, VentureCraft returns as one of our most requested summer favorites! So many students have launched incredible ideas in past years that we’re thrilled to offer this hit class again.
     
    In this fast-paced, hands-on course, students jump into the world of entrepreneurship and turn their own ideas into real products. Working individually or in teams, they’ll dream up concepts, design and create items, develop branding, and learn how to market and sell like pros. From clever inventions to eye-catching crafts, students will bring their imagination to life while learning essential skills such as market research, pricing, promotion, and customer engagement.
     
    The week wraps up with our lively “farmers market” showcase, where students set up shop, attract customers, and see how their business ideas perform in the real world.

    Get ready to rule the backyard! If you’ve ever dreamed of dominating your neighborhood cookout or becoming the undisputed champion of summer games, this class is for you. You’ll learn how to play all the classic outdoor favorites: Corn Hole, Ladder Ball, Kan Jam, Spikeball, Bottle Bash, and more! All while picking up real strategies to help you actually win. You’ll practice your skills, challenge classmates, and team up for friendly competitions. Every game leads to a high-energy, class-wide tournament where bragging rights are on the line…and yes, there will be epic prizes. Come for the games, stay for the laughs, and leave as the backyard legend everyone wants on their team!
  • Week 2, Session 1: Global Explorations (6th-8th graders)

    Grab your passport—no suitcase needed! In this class, students will “travel” the globe and explore amazing cultures through games, food, music, and creative projects. Each day spotlights a different part of the world, uncovering cool traditions, languages, celebrations, and stories.
     
    Students will roll up their sleeves in the kitchen to make and taste tasty signature dishes while learning why those foods matter to the people who enjoy them. They’ll also dive into hands-on crafts—like designing art, souvenirs, and cultural creations inspired by each region we visit.
     
    By the end of the week, students won’t just learn about the world—they’ll feel like they’ve been on an adventure around it!
  • Week 2, Session 1: Jingle in June (4th-6th graders)

    Who says Christmas only comes in December? Get ready for the most magical week of summer as we transform our classroom into a winter wonderland and explore the incredible world of Christmas traditions. Imagine decking the halls in the middle of summer, creating dazzling decorations, baking delicious treats, and learning fascinating stories about holiday traditions. We'll sing, craft, cook, and play—bringing the spirit of Christmas to life when you least expect it. Let's make this the most unforgettable Christmas in June ever!
  • Week 2, Session 1: The Curiosity Lab (6th-8th grade)

    The Curiosity Lab offers students four days of engaging, hands-on science experiences designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. Campers will explore chemistry, engineering, biology, forensics, and Earth science through real experiments and interactive challenges, including creating chemical reactions, designing and testing engineering builds, extracting DNA, analyzing fingerprints, investigating a mock crime scene, and modeling natural phenomena like volcanoes, tornadoes, and ecosystems. Students will work collaboratively in small groups, record observations in science notebooks, and apply critical thinking skills in a fun, supportive learning environment that emphasizes discovery and problem-solving.

    Calling all future engineers, inventors, and problem-solvers! Get ready for the ultimate building competition where creativity meets science and teamwork conquers challenges. In Battle of the Builders, students will design, construct, and test four epic engineering projects that will put their skills to the ultimate test. No experience necessary—just bring your imagination, teamwork spirit, and competitive edge. Whether you're a hands-on builder or a creative designer, there's a place for you in the Battle of the Builders arena. By the end of the course, you'll have conquered four engineering challenges and earned your title as a St. Agnes Boss Builder!
  • Week 2, Session 2: Intro to Guitar (6th-8th graders)

    Got a guitar hiding in your closet? Ever wished you could just pick one up and actually play it? This class is your chance to go from air-guitar hero to real-life strummer! You’ll learn the basics step by step. Whether you’ve never touched a guitar before or you’ve just been randomly noodling, this course will help you build real skills and confidence so you can keep getting better long after the week ends.
     
    Special note: You don’t have to own a guitar to join us (though it definitely helps!). We’ll have a limited number available to use during class for students who don’t have their own.
  • Week 2, Session 2: Pages of Me (4th-8th graders)

    Every page tells a story! You will create a one-of-a-kind scrapbook that captures who you are. Learn how to turn blank pages into colorful reflections of your life using layout tricks and colorful embellishments. Each day brings a new theme, from favorite things to future goals, ending with a keepsake full of your favorite memories and a new way to express yourself!
  • Week 2, Session 2: Roll Me a D20 (6th-8th graders)

  • Week 2, Session 2: STEMosaurus Camp (4th-6th grade)

    Get ready to travel back in time! Our STEMosaurus Camp is a hands-on, four-day science adventure designed especially for students in grades 4–6. Campers will become junior paleontologists as they dig for fossils, investigate dinosaur footprints, explore how fossils form, build and test dinosaur-inspired structures, and discover what Earth was like millions of years ago. Through engaging experiments, interactive activities, and creative challenges, students will learn how scientists study dinosaurs while practicing observation, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment.

    In this exciting, one-week summer course, middle school students will dive into the world of Pixar films to explore the fundamental elements of storytelling, including plot, character development, theme, conflict, and symbolism. Each day, we’ll watch a Pixar short or film excerpt, analyze it together, and discuss how these cinematic stories mirror literary techniques.
    Students will learn to identify and discuss literary elements in film and practice analyzing them in a fun, hands-on way. They’ll participate in daily projects that bring the lessons to life, like designing alternative endings, creating character profiles, and even crafting storyboards for their own short Pixar-inspired scene. By the end of the week, students will walk away with a greater appreciation for storytelling in all forms and a toolkit of literary analysis skills.

Each day will spark your creativity and problem-solving skills as you dive into new moves and rhythms. Plus, you will collaborate with friends to create a unique choreography, learning to communicate and express yourself while exploring styles from around the world. The week will end with an exciting showcase for family and friends, where you will get to perform the choreography you helped create. Get ready to move, connect, and celebrate what makes you unique!

    This course is designed to teach participants how to prepare easy, delicious, and nutritious meals and snacks with minimal preparation time and effort.     In this week-long summer course, middle school students will explore the creative, relaxing world of watercolor journaling. Each day, students will learn new watercolor techniques—like washes, blending, and layering—to create beautiful, expressive journal pages. Alongside painting, they’ll engage in journaling activities focused on gratitude and mindfulness, practicing how to be present in each moment. Through guided prompts and group reflections, students will develop the habit of noticing and appreciating the small, meaningful details in their lives. By the end of the week, they will have a vibrant, personal journal filled with artwork and reflections that capture their unique perspective. This course not only builds creative skills but also helps students develop emotional awareness, self-expression, and a lasting appreciation for mindfulness practices.
  • Global Explorations: Cultures, Cuisines and Crafts

    Embark on a journey around the world as students immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of world cultures through interactive lessons, delicious cuisines, and hands-on crafts. Each day will spotlight a different region of the world, exploring its unique traditions, languages, and histories. Students will taste create and taste iconic dishes, learning about the ingredients and significance behind each cuisine. They'll also dive into cultural crafts, creating art and projects that reflect the heritage of each area.
  • Introduction to Fundamentals of Art

    Introduction to Fundamentals of Art provides students with basic knowledge of the basic elements and principles of design, color theory and concepts of two-dimensional art as well as gain an understanding and appreciation of Modern art history. This one week course explores creative thinking skills and develops artistic awareness as students practice the basic skills and art techniques necessary for creating contemporary artwork. Students are introduced to art theory and applications in the areas of drawing, conceptual design, painting and color theory. Class discussion will include an understanding of the role of visual arts through history and among world cultures. This hands-on 1-week course provides students with an opportunity to build a creative foundation through an understanding of the visual language of art and the use of basic art materials and mediums. Students will finish the course with a 10X10” abstract painting in the style of Henri Matisse and his late collage works.
  • Let’s Get Lit with Lyrics: Analyzing Literature Through Music and Pop Culture

    Ever wonder how your favorite songs connect to classic literature? In this course, we’ll explore the powerful relationship between music, pop culture, and literature. Students will analyze song lyrics, music videos, and popular trends to discover deeper meanings, themes, and literary techniques that echo famous books and poems. We’ll compare today’s chart-topping hits of artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, and Zach Bryan to works by Shakespeare, Poe, and other literary legends, exploring universal themes like love, identity, conflict, and justice. Students will create playlists, visual one-pagers, and even present how their favorite songs connect to key literary themes.

    A fun dive into American Sign Language! This engaging one-week course introduces students to the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) and the rich culture of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Through interactive lessons, games, and hands-on activities, students will learn essential vocabulary, fingerspelling, and simple conversational skills. The course will also emphasize the importance of visual communication and understanding Deaf and hard-of-hearing culture, promoting respect and inclusion. By the end of the week, students will have the foundational skills to communicate using ASL and a deeper appreciation for the diversity within our communities. No experience needed! This course encourages creativity and collaboration while fostering new friendships through shared learning experiences.

    Join us for an inspiring journey to explore the lives and legacies of remarkable female saints! Students will learn about the contributions of extraordinary Catholic women through prayer, journaling, crafts, and delicious snacks. We will uncovering her story, her virtues, and her impact on faith and community. Students will engage in prayer to foster a personal connection to the saints, journaling for reflection and creativity, crafting projects inspired by the lives of the saints, and snacks connected to the saints’ stories, adding a delightful culinary twist to our explorations.
